Loch Obha (Scottish Water Goddess) A3 Print
'Loch Obha' A3 digital print reproduction of original screen print by illustrator and printmaker Abbie Lois.
Abbie Lois is an illustrator and printmaker based in Glasgow, whose work is inspired by storytelling and folklore. Her work usually has a specific lore behind the piece - themes surrounding landscapes, ancient creatures or interesting people.
In Scottish and Irish folklore, the Cailleach is a powerful goddess figure known as a creator, weather deity and guardian of the land.
In lore, she is said to undertaken a long journey once a year to Loch Bà on the Isle of Mull, where she would bathe in its waters and become youthful once again.
On her journey here one year, she stopped atop Ben Cruachan for a nap as she was keeping watch of a well she had created for her deer. The well overflowed, and flooded the landscape below before she awoke, creating Loch Awe as we know it today.
Each print measures 210mm x 420mm (A3), and is digitally printed on to high quality 250gsm perlino cotton paper. It is protected by a biodegradable cellophane sleeve.
The print comes with a card which explains the story behind the piece.
