Story on the back of the card:
Although sadly extinct in Scotland now, wild boar were once a common sight in Scottish forests, and as a result, you can find numerous place names inspired by them in the Gaelic landscape - look for ‘torc’ or ‘tuirc’ on a map. Boars often feature in folklore across the Celtic landscape - such as in Ireland the story of Diarmuid & Grainne, in Wales the Twrch Trwyth, and in Scotland the boar is sometimes linked to the Cailleach, a goddess figure known as a creator, weather deity and guardian of the land.
