Champlevé technique enamelled copper green leaf teardrop necklace
This gorgeous enamelled copper pendant has been handcrafted by Glasgow southside based Suzi Nicol Designs using the time consuming champlevé technique to create the pretty leaf pattern.
Champlevé is a technique where the metal’s surface is embossed by hammering, stamping, or carving to form depressions in which enamel is applied. After the piece is fired, the enamel builds up in these divots and any enamel on the raised parts is then sanded away - the result is a mostly smooth surface. The name comes from the French word for “raised field.”
On a sterling silver 18" extender chain this provides a pretty contrast.
The pendant measures approximately 4cm long by 2cm wide.
